Proactive product innovation

“We are proud and pleased to receive this prestigious award from Intel,” says Edgar Chang, president of Portwell, Inc. “We have always taken a proactive approach to implementing Intel technologies and actively design and develop products that will enable our customers in the embedded systems marketplace to put these technologies into practice in their applications.”

“Of course, we could not achieve these results without an excellent R&D department, whose product innovation embraces time-to-market challenges and meets them head-on with problem-solving solutions,” Chang adds, “This award confirms the ability of Portwell to seamlessly blend Intel’s innovations in the embedded market with our own.”

First to market with the Intel® Atom™ processor

Portwell was first to market when it launched the PCS-8230 Car PC, an in-vehicle infotainment system based on Intel® Atom Z510 low power consumption processor. The Company has consistently launched other small form factor embedded boards and solutions using this innovative processor combined with Mini-ITX, ECX, and Nano-ITX form factor. In fact, its NANO-8044, based on the Intel® Atom Z510/Z530 processor, was the first embedded board using the Nano-ITX form factor. These products provide solutions for applications in medical, POS, mobile devices, media phones, kiosk, lottery, gaming and digital signage.

The company has also engineered successful product launches based on the Intel® EP80579 Integrated Processor with Intel® QuickAssist Technology, the Intel® System-on-a-Chip (SoC) solution with built-in security features. Portwell’s CATO communication appliance product family has effectively taken action in network security, firewall, media gateway, VoIP and even in industrial automation.

In addition, Portwell has launched embedded products based on Intel® multi-core technology. Its server-class System Host Board series is effective in applications where high computing power is needed, such as medical imaging equipment, communication equipment, networking and industrial automation.
