New WADE-8180 features high performance

Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the embedded computing market and a member of the Intel® Embedded Alliance, announces WADE-8180, the latest addition to its growing family of Mini-ITX embedded system boards.

Built with Intel’s latest Q45 Express and ICH10DO chipset, WADE-8180 takes advantage of the Intel® Core™ 2 Quad and Core™ 2 Duo technologies. Two 240-pin DIMM sockets support dual channel DDR3 SDRAM memory up to 4GB for faster system responsiveness and support of 64-bit computing. VGA/DVI-D provides dual display with a third display available through the board’s PCI-E x16 slot. WADE-8180 also includes RAID 0/1/5/10, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 and Active Management Technology (AMT) 5.0, four SATA ports, dual GbE LAN ports, dual COM ports and eight USB ports for faster I/O, and support for Microsoft® Windows® XP Embedded, XP, Vista and CE operating systems and Linux® operating system.

Available now, WADE-8180’s ability to drive two displays simultaneously makes it particularly suitable for gaming applications. It is also ideal for applications in industrial control and automation, multimedia, kiosk, digital signage, print imaging, digital surveillance and network security.

Feature rich with the latest technology

According to Vincent Liao, senior manager of Portwell’s Advanced Product Research Department, the company has designed and developed the new WADE-8180 full of useful features that will help OEMs and ODMs bring extra benefits to their customers. “For example,” says Vincent, “the Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor with AMT provides application security, manageability and energy efficient performance. The Intel® Q45 chipset with built-in GMA X4500 delivers a great combination of graphics performance and features to meet the expanding needs of today’s business users.”

Improved security

Martee Huang, sales VP of Portwell points out that by supporting AMT 5.0, the latest version of Intel® Active Management Technology, the new WADE-8180 Mini-ITX embedded system board provides customers with enhanced functions such as remote alerts, secured access and access monitor, fast call for help and remote scheduled maintenance.
