Portwell Inc., a world-leading innovator in the Industrial PC (IPC) market and a member of the Intel® Embedded Alliance (IEA), announced the Portwell PEB-2770 & PEB-2780 adopting the 3.5" embedded form factor. PEB-2770/2780 is based on the Intel® Atom™ dual-core processor D510/N450 and Intel® ICH8M. The new micro-architecture of the Intel® platform will provide a range of low power, high-performance and fanless applications such as Panel PC, Kiosk, DS, Medical, Defense, Industrial automation and control applications.

PEB-2770/2780 is specifically designed to operate at low power consumption in full loading. It supports dual independent display by LVDS and VGA onboard and functions which are good for industrial applications like four serial ports.

“The Intel® Atom™ D510 Dual-Core processor provides low power consumption and advanced performance that meets the requirements of the market segments Portwell serves,” said Daphne Lee, Product Manager of Portwell's Advanced Product Research Department. “The Intel® Atom™ D510 Dual-Core processor provides higher performance than single-core processor. Lots of customers require embedded system which is fanless and with higher CPU performance, such as Transportation, Medical, Digital Signage and Defense applications. Portwell have taken advantage of such technology to furnish a series of products that can meet multiple industrial requirements such as fanless, cost-effective of CPU performance or compact systems. PEB-2770/2780 is the first Portwell off-the-shelf product for by dual-core Intel® Atom™, it can be an embedded solution and a good platform for customer to integrate it to the embedded system. Not only embedded board, we provide embedded system solution with PEB-2770/2780 if customer needs a total solution from Portwell. ” explains Daphne Lee.

Based on the Intel® Atom™ processor D510/N450 platform, the PEB-2770/2780 takes advantage of the processor's performance and furthermore Portwell design the CPU/chipset on the backside of the board which is good for system thermal design. Customer could take this advantage to have an easy and perfect thermal solution which could solve the thermal of CPU. It can be a truly embedded solution and fanless configuration by this kind of placement. In addition, the PEB-2770/2780 supports DC 12V input, one SO-DIMM memory slot for DDR2 SDRAM, and comes with one IDE port, two SATA ports, one CompactFlash® socket, VGA/LVDS, two Gigabit Ethernet, four serial ports and six USB 2.0 ports.
